Drawdown protection
The optional daily limits (Max Daily Loss, Max Trades/Day), what else PipSync limits, and how to stay inside a loss limit with sizing. There is no total drawdown limit.
The short answer
PipSync has two optional daily limits, off by default: Max Daily Loss and Max Trades/Day. Switch each on and set it under Settings → Trading or Trading Hub → Risk Settings (both edit the same setting). They apply per trading account to copied signals, automatic or confirmed by hand, and the day runs from 00:00 UTC. There is no total drawdown limit.
- Max Daily Loss: once an account's equity, open positions included, has fallen that far below its level at 00:00 UTC, new copied trades on it are refused until 00:00 UTC, even if the equity recovers. If you raise the limit, the account is measured again against the new value; switched on during the day, it measures from then. It is checked with every copied signal and every 5 minutes. A withdrawal during the day counts as a loss and a deposit hides one.
- Max Trades/Day: each account takes at most that many signals per UTC day. A signal with several take-profits counts once, a failed attempt still counts, and orders you place yourself do not count. Switched on during the day, it counts from then.
- Neither closes open positions, and orders you place yourself are never blocked. You get a notification when a limit is reached.
- Measured accounts: MT5, cTrader and Match-Trader. Where PipSync cannot confirm an account's own equity (for example crypto accounts), an enabled Max Daily Loss refuses that account's copied trades and tells you.
What PipSync does limit
- Risk per trade (%), Min Lots and Max Lots — Channels → your channel → Settings → Auto-trade → Position Sizing.
- Max Open Positions (Settings → Trading): an account that already holds that many positions refuses new signals, and you get a notification.
- Max Daily Loss and Max Trades/Day (Settings → Trading), when switched on: see above.
- Built-in guards you cannot configure: no second open position in the same direction on the same instrument, and no new trade when the combined risk of all open positions plus the new one would exceed a total risk budget.
Staying inside a daily limit anyway
- 1
Work backwards from the limit
Make sure Risk per trade (%) times Max Open Positions stays well below your broker's daily limit. That assumes every stop is hit at its level; slippage and gaps can cost more.
- 2
Switch on Max Daily Loss below the limit
Set it with a margin below your broker's or firm's daily limit. Their day may start at another time than 00:00 UTC, and they may measure from the balance instead of the equity.
- 3
Watch your equity on busy days
The daily limit stops new copied trades, not open positions. When you reach your own stop line, close positions yourself or switch the channels off with Disable auto-trading.
- 4
Close positions yourself
Nothing here closes open positions. Use Trading Accounts → your account → Open Positions → Close.
