Most providers post updates after the entry. PipSync matches each one back to the signal it belongs to — a reply to the signal (or to an earlier update in the same thread), or a plain command that names an instrument you have open from this channel — and applies it to the positions PipSync opened for that signal.
| Message | What happens |
|---|---|
| "Move SL to entry" / "to BE" | Moves the stop to the entry price of each open position of that signal |
| "Move SL to X" | Moves the stop to X, unless that would make the stop wider (see below) |
| "TP1 hit, close half" / "close 25%" | Partial close of the share named in the message. A bare "TP1 hit" without a share closes a default share (a third for TP1) |
| "Move TP to X" | Modifies the target. With several targets, "TP2 to X" changes only TP2; a price without a label changes only the farthest target |
| "Close now" | Market close of every open position of that signal |
| "Re-enter" / "add more" | Saved as a new signal that waits for your confirmation. Never opened automatically |
| Anything unmatched | Not applied. Never guessed onto another trade |
A message that is not a reply to the signal or to one of its updates is only acted on when it is a plain close, partial-close or move-stop-to-entry/break-even command that names an instrument you have open from this channel. Moving the stop to a price, moving a target and re-entering are only handled when the provider replies to the signal.
Updates reach every position of a signal that was split across several take-profits: see Signals with several take-profit targets.
What is not applied
- A stop move that widens the risk. A stop moved away from the price is never applied automatically; you get a "Wider stop loss not applied" notification and can move it yourself at your broker if you want to follow. A tighter stop, or break-even on a stop that is still below the entry, is applied.
- An update that arrives too late. Updates are only executed within a short time of being received. An older one is marked as handled without touching your broker.
- An update for a position that already closed. That is why a "move to BE" that arrives right after a stop-out does nothing — the trade was already gone.
- A partial close on a position too small to split, for example 0.01 lots. It is left open instead of being closed completely.
- A stop that already sits where the update asks. Nothing is modified.
Trailing stop and automatic break-even
Settings → Trading has a Trailing Stop card (the Trailing Stop (opt-in) checkbox, off by default, with Activate After (% to TP1) and ATR Multiplier) and a Take Profit Management card (Partial Close Percentage (per TP) and Move SL to Breakeven on TP1, which run only while the trailing stop is enabled). They are workspace-wide settings, not per channel or per account.
At the moment the job that applies them skips trades opened on accounts you connect under Trading Accounts, so these settings do not change those trades. For them, break-even and partial closes happen when your provider asks for them (table above) or when you move the stop yourself at your broker.
The Trade Close Management switches in a channel's Auto-trade panel do not decide this either: provider close messages are applied whatever those switches say.
