"Not enough money" — margin, not risk

A correctly-sized trade can still be refused for margin. Two different limits.

Sizing is about risk — how much you lose if the stop is hit. Your broker also needs margin — collateral to hold the position open. They are different numbers, and a trade sized correctly for risk can still be refused for margin.

Why it happens

  • Several positions already open, each consuming margin.
  • Floating loss on open trades eating free margin before any stop is hit.
  • High-margin instruments (indices, metals) alongside forex.
  • Leverage lower than you assumed on that account type. PipSync cannot change leverage; it is set at your broker or exchange.

What PipSync does

PipSync does not shrink the order or try again when the broker refuses it for margin — retries are only used for connection problems and requotes. If no order was opened, the signal is marked Rejected. Open Trading Hub → Execution Log and click the signal: the error shown there contains the broker's own message. If it names a specific margin level, that is the authoritative number.

What to change

  1. Max Open Positions (Settings → Trading, also on Trading Hub → Risk Settings). This is the practical margin control — cap the book, not just each trade. A signal with several take-profits opens one position per target, and each one counts.
  2. Lower the size under Channels → Settings → Auto-trade → Position Sizing: a lower Risk per trade (%), a lower Fixed Lots value or a lower Max Lots. Lower size means lower margin.
  3. Free up margin at the broker: add funds or close positions.

PipSync also refuses, on its own, a second open position in the same direction on the same instrument on an account, so one instrument cannot stack up there. That limit is built in and cannot be changed.

What not to do

Do not raise leverage to make the error go away. It removes the warning, not the exposure — and the next volatile session collects.
