Stopping trading immediately

There is no kill switch you can press yourself. These are the controls that stop new orders at once, and what they leave alone.

There is no kill switch you can press yourself. What you have are controls at two levels, from narrow to wide. The ones that stop orders are Disable auto-trading on a channel, Pause channel, the account link set to Paused, and the account itself set to Disabled. Each one applies to the next signal that arrives, and none of them closes a position that is already open. A trade that is being placed at the very moment you switch can still go through.

1. Stop one channel

Open Channels, choose the Settings tab, pick the channel and use the Auto-trade panel:

  • Disable auto-trading (the Disable button at the bottom of the panel). New signals from the channel are still received and saved, but nothing is traded automatically: they wait for you on the Signals page (open /signals), where a market signal can be confirmed for 10 minutes after the message and a limit/stop signal for 24 hours. This is the fastest way to stop automatic orders from one provider.
  • Enable test mode (at the top of the same tab) records and scores signals but never sends them to a broker — not even when you confirm them by hand.
  • Pause channel keeps PipSync reading a Telegram channel and recording its signals, but opens no new trades from it by itself. Like Disable auto-trading, it leaves a new signal waiting for you on the Signals page, where you can still confirm it by hand. The channel shows Paused in the channel list and Activate channel ends the pause. On a Discord, email or TradingView channel, Pause likewise opens no new trades by itself. A paused channel's new signals are also not sent to your outgoing webhooks (the Signal Received and Signal Parsed events).

2. Stop one account

  • On the channel's Per-account settings page, set the account to Paused. That channel then sends no orders to that account; your other channels still do.
  • To stop every source at once for one account, open the account (Trading Accounts → the account). Set each entry under Signal sources routed here to paused, or press Enabled at the top of the page so that it reads Disabled ("Disable account"): no signal order is placed on a disabled account, whether automatic or confirmed by hand. To also block manual orders from the account page, press Disconnect as well, or delete the account.
  • Disconnect on the account card drops the connection, but it is not a lasting stop: an account that is still enabled is reconnected automatically, for example after PipSync restarts. Use Disabled instead.

Two side effects to know:

  • On Discord and email channels, and when you confirm a signal by hand, a signal that reaches a disabled account makes PipSync pause that channel link by itself; after you enable the account again, check that its links are Active. For an automatic order from a Telegram channel the link stays as it is and the order for that account is simply refused.
  • On a Telegram channel with no enabled linked account left, PipSync switches its auto-trading off at the next signal and sends the notification "Auto-trade disabled — reconnect an account". To resume, set a link to Active and press Enable auto-trading again.

What it does not do

  • It does not close open positions. Existing trades keep their stops and targets at the broker. Close them yourself under Trading Accounts → the account → Open Positions → Close, or at your broker if you need certainty.
  • It does not stop the provider's follow-up messages ("close", "move SL to entry") from being applied to positions that are already open. That is also true of a paused Telegram channel: it keeps managing the trades that are already open from it. To stop that too, close the trade yourself or use Remove channel: the trade then stays open at the broker but no longer receives the provider's update messages.
  • It does not disconnect your Telegram login or your broker.

A platform-wide pause

Separately, PipSync can switch automatic trading off for all customers during an incident. New signals are then saved for manual approval, you get a "Signal saved for manual approval" notification, and trades you confirm by hand still work. You cannot turn that on or off yourself.

When to use it

  • A provider is behaving oddly: duplicate signals, sizes that make no sense.
  • Market conditions you do not want automated exposure to.
  • Anything unexplained. Switching a channel off and on again costs nothing.
If you suspect your account is compromised, stopping automatic orders is step one: disable the account as described above. Then change the password at your broker (for Binance or Bybit, delete the API key at the exchange), turn on two-factor authentication under Settings → Security, and message us in the support chat.
