What you need
- The numeric login (account number) — digits only, not your broker portal email.
- The master password (the trading password). The investor password connects, but the broker rejects every order. PipSync has no monitoring-only mode — see Investor password vs master password.
- The server name, character for character — see Finding your exact MT5 server name.
- A free account slot on your plan. If your plan has none, PipSync shows an upgrade notice instead of saving the account (Settings → Billing shows your plan).
Steps
- Trading Accounts → Add account. In the Add Trading Account dialog, set Broker Type to MetaTrader 5. (MetaTrader 4 is listed but disabled — it is not connectable yet.)
- Fill in Account Name (any label you like), Broker Name (optional) and Account Number.
- Leave API Endpoint blank — PipSync then provisions a dedicated terminal for this account. Do not type a login, password or server name there.
- Under MT5 Connection, enter MT5 Login (the same number as the account number), MT5 Server and MT5 Password (for provisioning) — the master password.
- The Demo Account box is ticked by default. Untick it for a live account. It only labels the account in PipSync; the server you log in to decides whether orders are demo or live.
- Click Create Account. PipSync starts the terminal and logs in, which can take a few minutes — the account card shows "Provisioning your dedicated terminal" meanwhile. When the login worked, the card turns green and shows your balance; open the account to see equity and open positions.
The server name is the usual culprit
It must match exactly, including the dash and any suffix. The MT5 Server field suggests common server names as you type, but any name is accepted — a suggestion is not a check.
ICMarketsSC-Live17 correct — exactly as the terminal shows it ICMarkets-Live17 wrong — shortened icmarketssc-live17 wrong — lowercased ICMarketsSC-Demo wrong — demo server for a live login
Find it in the MT5 desktop terminal under File → Login to Trade Account (or Tools → Options → Server), in the mobile app under the account entry, or in your broker's welcome email.
A live login on a demo server fails with the same error as a wrong password. Check both before assuming the password is wrong.
If it fails
- A toast starting "Account created, but provisioning failed", or — after a few minutes — the message "No terminal was provisioned. Retry to fix it." on the account card, means the terminal could not log in. The usual causes are an unknown or mistyped server name, a wrong login, or a wrong password.
- Wrong password: use Retry provisioning on the account card and enter the MT5 password again.
- Wrong login or server: there is no edit form, and retrying reuses the saved login and server. Delete the account (trash icon — this also removes its channel links, trade history stays) and add it again, then link it to your channel again.
- Still stuck? Message us in the support chat with your broker and the exact text of the error.
