Connecting a prop-firm or challenge account

Same connection as any broker. Different risk configuration — and check the firm's rules first.

Prop firms hand you a normal platform login — MetaTrader 5, cTrader or Match-Trader. Connect it exactly like any other account (Trading Accounts → Add account, then pick the matching Broker Type; see How to connect your MT5 account and Connecting cTrader). MetaTrader 4 accounts cannot be connected yet. For Match-Trader, the form asks for the Platform address (the web address where you log in), Login Email, Platform Password, Broker ID and Account Number; if the platform rejects the login, nothing is saved. What changes with a prop firm is the risk configuration.

Check your firm's rules on automated execution and copy trading before you start. Some allow it outright, some ban copying the same signals as other funded traders. Being right about the software does not help if the payout is refused.

Daily limits, and what PipSync still does not stop

Max Daily Loss and Max Trades/Day are optional and off by default (Settings → Trading or Trading Hub → Risk Settings). With Max Daily Loss on, once the account's equity (open positions included) is that far below its level at 00:00 UTC, new copied trades on it are refused until 00:00 UTC. Open positions are not closed, and orders you place yourself are not blocked. PipSync has no total drawdown limit. The firm's day may start at another time than 00:00 UTC and it may measure from the balance, so set the limit with a margin below theirs and keep watching the account. Details: Daily loss and trades-per-day limits.

Map their rules onto what PipSync has

Firm ruleWhat to use
Daily loss limitMax Daily Loss, switched on and set below the firm's limit. It stops new copied trades for the rest of the UTC day; it does not close positions. Also keep Risk per trade (%) low so several stop-loss hits in a row stay well inside the limit.
Total drawdownSame: nothing automatic. Keep Risk per trade (%) low and monitor the account.
Max position size / max lotMax Lots — set per channel under Channels → your channel → Settings → Auto-trade → Position Sizing, or under Settings → Telegram → the gear next to your channel → Trading rules → Max lots per signal (one value, two places to set it). The lot size is clamped between Min Lots and Max Lots, but never goes below your broker's own minimum lot, so check that the broker's minimum is below the firm's cap. If Max Lots is below your broker's smallest lot, PipSync sends no order and records a reason like Channel setting: Max Lots (0.5) is below the smallest lot your broker accepts for XAUUSD (1). Raise Max Lots or skip this instrument. On the Trade Gateway, if it is below your own Min Lots, the reason is like Channel setting: Max Lots (0.5) is below Min Lots (1) for XAUUSD. Lower Min Lots or raise Max Lots. If the link to a trading account carries a limit of its own, the lower of the two applies.
Max number of open tradesMax Open Positions (Settings → Trading). It caps the positions open on an account at the same time, and every take-profit leg of a signal counts as a position.
News or weekend restrictionsThe channel's Trading sessions (Signal filters) refuse new signals outside the Asia, Europe or US session you tick (fixed UTC hours). There is no news blackout and no weekend rule: for those, switch automatic trading off yourself — Disable auto-trading on the channel, Pause channel (a paused channel opens no new trades by itself) or set the account link to Paused. None of them closes a trade that is already open.
Consistency ruleLower Risk per trade (%), so no single day dominates.

Why the headroom

The firm measures on their server, in their timezone, including swap and commission. You size on yours. Those numbers are never identical, and the gap is widest exactly when the market moves fastest. Because PipSync will not stop at a limit for you, the headroom has to come from sizing: choose a risk per trade at which a run of losing trades still leaves a clear gap to the firm's limit. A breach at your own comfort level is a pause; a breach at theirs is a dead account.

Floating loss counts at most firms, so a position left open across the firm's daily reset can breach the next day before you wake up.
