Finding your exact MT5 server name

Three places it is written down, and the mistakes that look like a wrong password.

PipSync needs the server string your broker publishes, not a friendly name.

Where to find it

  1. MT5 desktop — File → Login to Trade Account. The server dropdown shows the exact string.
  2. MT5 mobile — Settings, then your account entry. The server sits under the login number.
  3. Broker welcome email — usually printed next to the login and password.

Mistakes that produce "invalid account"

  • Dropping part of the name (ICMarkets-Live17 instead of ICMarketsSC-Live17).
  • Lowercasing it.
  • Using the demo server for a live login, or the reverse.
  • A trailing space from copy-paste. Retype it if in doubt.

Brokers with many servers

Larger brokers run several live servers, and your account only exists on one. Live, Live2 and Live17 are different servers — picking the wrong one fails exactly like a wrong password.

If MetaTrader itself cannot log in with the same three values, the problem is at the broker, not in PipSync.
