Discord bot setup
Read signals from a Discord channel and route them to your connected broker accounts.
Before you begin
- Access to the Discord server where signals are posted.
- You own the server or have the Manage Server permission on it — Discord requires that to add a bot, and PipSync only lists servers your Discord login shows you managing. A member without it cannot connect the server.
- A free source slot on your PipSync plan.
Channel permissions
Server-wide permissions are not enough if the signal channel has its own overrides. Check the channel itself:
- Channel → Edit Channel → Permissions → the PipSync role must have View Channel.
- It also needs Read Message History, otherwise it only sees messages posted after it joined.
- Private channels need the role added explicitly — server-level access does not inherit.
- When you save, PipSync asks Discord whether the bot can open the channel. If it cannot, saving stops and says so: fix the permissions, then save again.
Parsing and filters
Discord messages go through the same parser as Telegram. A signal posted only as an image is read with text recognition, which is less reliable than text — if those fail, ask the provider for a text version or use a channel that has one.
Busy servers mix chatter into the signal channel. The parser only turns trade setups into signals, and the channel's keyword and symbol filters keep the rest out — see Filtering a noisy channel.
