Filtering a noisy channel
Cut the noise out of a busy channel: keyword rules, blocked and allowed symbols, trading sessions, and what happens to a refused signal.
Keyword filters
Every channel has its own Signal filters: Channels → your channel → Settings tab → Auto-trade panel → Signal filters. Separate entries with commas and press Save filters. They are available on every plan and empty by default.
| Rule | Example | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Block keywords | recap, results, giveaway | A message that contains any of them is refused. End-of-day recaps stop being re-traded. |
| Required keywords | entry, signal | When set, a message must contain at least one of them, or it is refused. |
Keywords match whole words or phrases and are not case-sensitive: "vip" matches VIP and #vip, but not vipers. A keyword made of symbols or an emoji matches wherever it appears.
Blocked and allowed symbols
- Blocked symbols: signals for these instruments are refused, for example one your broker does not offer.
- Allowed symbols: when set, signals for every other instrument are refused. Useful when a provider mixes indices or crypto into a forex feed.
- Symbols match by instrument: GOLD and XAUUSD count as the same entry.
Trading sessions
Limit a channel to the sessions you trust it in: Asia (00:00–09:00 UTC), Europe (07:00–16:00 UTC), US (13:00–22:00 UTC). A signal that arrives outside every ticked session is refused. None or all three ticked means any time.
- The hours are fixed in UTC and do not move with daylight saving time.
- There is no news blackout, no weekend rule and no window of your own beyond these three sessions.
What happens to a refused signal
It is still saved, with the status Rejected and the reason on its card on the Signals page, so you can review afterwards whether a filter cost you anything. No order is placed for it on any account, by auto-trading or by hand, and there is no new-signal notification for it.
- The filters judge every new signal of the channel: Telegram, Discord, email and history imports.
- A re-entry ("add more") opens a new position, so the symbol and session rules apply to it; the keyword rules already judged the post it repeats.
- Updates to open trades (close, partial close, a new stop or target) are never filtered, so a filter never keeps a position from being closed.
- The filters per linked account (Channels → your channel → Per-account settings: symbol whitelist, session filter, Min TP, Max SL, Max Spread, max risk) still apply after them, account by account.
The parser only reads trade setups
A message becomes a signal only when PipSync can read an instrument, a direction, an entry, a stop-loss and at least one take-profit from it. Ads, giveaways and results posts without a setup do not become signals; a recap that repeats a full setup can, unless its words are on the channel's Block keywords. Messages such as "close half" are treated as updates to a trade, not as new signals.
To see what PipSync makes of a message, open Channels → Messages and use Test, or paste text into Quick test. The test shows how the parser reads the message; it does not apply the Signal filters.
Stay in control
- Approve by hand: leave Auto-Trading off for the channel (it is off by default). Every signal then waits on the Signals page for you to confirm or reject it.
- Test mode: Channels → Settings tab → Enable test mode records and scores signals but never sends them to a broker.
- Pause: Pause channel on the same tab keeps PipSync reading a Telegram channel and managing trades already open from it, but opens no new trades by itself. A new signal waits on the Signals page for you to confirm. Activate channel ends the pause.
Duplicates and re-posts
PipSync identifies a signal by the Telegram message it came from, so a message delivered twice (for example after a reconnect) does not create a second signal. A channel can be added only once per workspace.
