The short answer
PipSync has two optional daily limits, both off by default: Max Daily Loss and Max Trades/Day. Switch each on and set it under Settings → Trading → Daily Limits or Trading Hub → Risk Settings (both edit the same setting). They apply to each trading account separately, to copied signals (automatic or confirmed by hand), and the day runs from 00:00 UTC. Saved changes apply from the next copied signal. There is no total drawdown limit.
Max Daily Loss
- Once an account's equity, open positions included, has fallen that far below its level at 00:00 UTC, new copied trades on it are refused until 00:00 UTC, even if the equity recovers later that day. It is checked with every copied signal and every 5 minutes.
- If you raise the limit, the account is measured again against the new value; lowering it keeps the stop. Switched on during the day, it measures from then.
- A withdrawal during the day counts as a loss, and a deposit hides one.
- Open positions are never closed, and orders you place yourself are not blocked. You get a notification when the limit is reached.
- Measured on MT5, MT4, cTrader, Match-Trader, TradeLocker, DXtrade and Interactive Brokers accounts. Where PipSync cannot confirm an account's own equity (for example crypto accounts), an enabled limit refuses that account's copied trades and tells you.
Max Trades/Day
- Each account takes at most that many signals per UTC day. A signal with several take-profits counts once, and a failed attempt still counts.
- Orders you place yourself in the trade form or at your broker are not counted.
- Switched on during the day, it counts from then; signals taken earlier today still count after you change the number.
What is not a limit
- The Daily loss limit (%) in the setup wizard's risk step is not applied to trades; use Max Daily Loss in Settings → Trading.
- Dashboard → Risk today: the Daily loss bar compares today's result across all your accounts with your Max Daily Loss when it is on ("no limit" otherwise). The limit itself is checked per account, so one account can reach it while the bar stays below. The bar is a display; the limit is what refuses new trades.
What PipSync does limit
- Risk per trade. Channels → Settings → Auto-trade → Position Sizing: Risk per trade (%), Min Lots and Max Lots. See How your lot size is calculated.
- Max Open Positions (Settings → Trading, also on Trading Hub → Risk Settings). When an account already holds that many positions, a new signal is refused for that account and you get an "Auto-trade is paused — position limit reached" notification. Positions you opened by hand count too, and a signal with several take-profits opens one position per target.
- Built-in guards you cannot configure. By default PipSync refuses a second open position in the same direction on the same instrument on an account, and it refuses a new trade when the combined risk of all open positions plus the new one would exceed a total risk budget. Both send a notification when they block a signal.
Only Max Daily Loss looks at what you have lost today.
Staying inside a daily limit anyway
- Work backwards from the limit. If your broker's daily limit is 5% and several signals can be open at once, then with Risk-Based sizing make sure that Risk per trade (%) times Max Open Positions stays well below it. With Fixed Lots or Fixed Percentage the loss per trade depends on the stop distance, so work it out from your lot size and stop instead. That assumes every stop is hit exactly at its level; slippage and gaps can cost more.
- Switch on Max Daily Loss with a margin below your broker's or firm's daily limit.
- On days with many signals, still watch your equity at the broker. The limit stops new copied trades, not open positions. When you reach your own stop line, switch the channels off: Stopping trading immediately.
- Open positions are not closed by any of this. Close them yourself if the day is over: Trading Accounts → your account → Open Positions → Close.
Prop accounts
PipSync does not know your firm's rules, and its day runs from 00:00 UTC on equity. Find out when the firm's daily reset happens and whether floating loss counts, and set Max Daily Loss with a margin below their limit. A mismatch is how a compliant day becomes a breach.
