Symbol names and broker suffixes

Why GOLD, XAUUSD and XAUUSD.m are the same market with three names — and different sizing.

Brokers rename instruments freely. The same market shows up as GOLD, XAUUSD, XAUUSD.m, XAUUSD.raw or XAUUSDmicro depending on who you signed up with.

Find the name your broker uses

Open Market Watch in the terminal and show all symbols, not just the default list. That spelling is the only one your broker accepts.

Map it on the channel

Add a mapping so incoming names are translated before routing:

GOLD    -> XAUUSD.raw
US30    -> DJ30
NAS100  -> USTEC

The part people miss

Suffixed variants are different symbols with different contract sizes. A micro variant is typically a tenth of the standard one. After changing a mapping, check the next trade's lot size — a mapping that routes correctly can still size wrongly.

PipSync reads the contract spec from your broker per symbol rather than assuming, and rejects the trade if it cannot read one. That rejection is deliberate: sizing on a guess is how a 0.5% risk quietly becomes 5%.
