Fibonacci calculator

Give it a swing high, a swing low and a direction. It returns every retracement and extension level as a price and as a pip distance from the anchor.

Swing
Sets the pip size and decimal places only — no price is fetched.
Swing direction
Measured low → high; retracements fall away from the high.
The highest price of the move you are measuring.
The lowest price of the same move.
Extension levels
Projections beyond the swing, used as targets rather than entries.

The levels mark where to look, not what will happen
There is no mechanism that makes price respect a ratio. Enough participants watch 38.2, 50 and 61.8 that resting orders cluster there, so the levels work to the extent that they are self-fulfilling — and only for as long as the crowd keeps watching. Size the trade as if the level will fail, because sooner or later it does.

How it works

Understanding the numbers

What are Fibonacci retracements?

Horizontal levels at fixed proportions of a completed swing — 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, 76.4% — used as candidate areas where a pullback may end. They mark where to look, not what will happen.

Which levels matter most?

38.2%, 50% and 61.8% attract the most attention. 61.8% is the golden ratio and is often treated as the last level a trend can retrace to and still be considered intact.

Retracements versus extensions

Retracements sit inside the swing and are used for entries. Extensions project beyond it — 138.2%, 161.8%, 261.8% — and are used as targets once the move continues past the original high or low.

A note on why they appear to work

There is no mechanism that makes price respect a ratio. These levels are watched by enough participants that orders cluster around them, which is a self-fulfilling effect, not a property of the market. Size the trade as if the level will fail.
